Overview

Ferrari have always made beautiful, fast and desirable cars. From the knee-trembling lines of the 250GTO and 365GTB to the blistering performance of the F40 and F50, their oeuvre is littered with all-time classics that changed the automotive landscape forever. However, they haven’t always been the last word in finish or luxury. Enzo’s focus on motorsport and pure performance always took precedent over any other concerns.

The F430 was where things really changed in terms of quality and luxury for the prancing pony. When considered next to the 360 (its predecessor) there’s a notable upgrade in the materials used, fit and finish and the general air of solidity and engineering prowess. Yet, somehow, that ballistic, characterful performance the brand is renowned for wasn’t lost.

Clearly, the magicians at Ferrari worked their magic during the F430’s development, improving downforce by 50% over the 360, yet creating a shape that cuts through the air with even more finesse. Drag co-efficient is actually improved by a whopping 40%. This makes for a clean, restrained and subtle design that retains plenty of muscularity and drama without ever appearing showy or vulgar. Time has been extremely kind to it too, we think it’s one of the best looking Ferraris of the modern era.

Not only is the F430 classically styled and beautifully finished, but it still offers the spine-tingling character, fabulous handling and adrenaline-infused performance we expect from anything that rolls out of the gates at Maranello. In short, it’s a wonderfully considered and truly desirable supercar that you can actually use without fear or trepidation.

This particular example may be one of the finest we’ve seen too. Beautifully presented inside and out, it benefits from fewer than 24,000 miles on the clock, a very comprehensive service record and a highly attractive specification that is classically Italian and all the better for it.

For anyone looking to experience their first modern Ferrari, or who simply wants a stunning example of one of the marque’s finest V8 supercars, then this simply must be considered.

  • The inner wheels arches all show very well, being clean and free from any damage we could see, and all of the suspension and brake components we could see look to be in fine fettle, with no obvious issues

  • Original factory-fitted 19-inch Ferrari five twin-spoke alloy wheels, finished in silver, and apparently free from any kerb damage or lacquer peel

  • A matched set of Bridgestone Potenza tyres are fitted (225/35 front and 285/35 rear) and look to be in very good order – the rears have been newly fitted and the fronts are said to have c.5mm of tread

Summary

Some supercar brands are (quite wrongly) seen as purely for posers and show-offs. Ferraris have never fallen foul of that reputational trap-door. They remain one of the few supercars that garner near unanimous acclaim and respect from enthusiasts and collectors. The weight of history and the sheer goodwill engendered by that badge cannot be underestimated.

And this F430 is certainly no poser’s car. It’s an incredibly well presented, specified and maintained example of one of Ferrari’s greatest hits. Ageing like a fine Barolo, with each passing year the F430 bolsters its reputation as a fine driver’s car and a genuine modern classic. We think you’d have to travel a very long way to find a nicer example.

Although, were we to be travelling in this beauty, we don’t think we’d mind the journey. Not one bit.
