Overview
We like shiny things here at PistonHeads Headquarters. We are magpies, adorning our nests with trinkets, only we don’t swoop down and steal them from unsuspecting children. Instead, we suppress our avian tendencies and comply with the norms of commercial transactions by making offers and placing bids. Even though sometimes our squawks go unanswered.
And this here is a very shiny thing indeed. Surprisingly so given that it’s painted black, but it’s a very shiny kind of black. In fact, we’d happily take this Boxster back to our nest and use it as a mirror.
Back in the reality of human existence, we also deeply appreciate this car’s engineering. The six-cylinder engine is mounted behind the seats, and is the larger 3.4-litre unit which puts out 291 bhp and can propel the car to 62 mph in just 5.4 seconds. These shiny performance figures are complemented by this car’s recent servicing, which includes a fresh set of spark plugs and coil packs.
This means that this Boxster S is very well placed to be driven and enjoyed. Its low mileage implies that it has so far led a comfortable life, as well as its overall excellent cosmetic condition. The interior features the kind of well-trimmed leather upholstery you’d expect to see on a Porsche, and has been enhanced by the addition of a touchscreen stereo head unit which brings the car up to date with Bluetooth and Android Auto.
In all, a very well presented example of a drop-top 987, ready to be enjoyed whatever the weather might bring. Not just by the driver but by anyone with an eye for a well-polished bit of paintwork.

Summary
There are many good reasons to buy this 987 Boxster S: its low mileage, its recent servicing, its extremely capable engine, and its precise handling all come to mind. But we’re mostly captivated by its shiny paintwork. We don’t know why. Sometimes it’s the simpler things which capture the imagination and make us want to place a bid ourselves.
