Overview

As humans, we know when something feels just… right. Like the perfect shade of tea in the morning, the right temperature on a summer evening, or the correct size shoes for our feet. Nissan were much the same with the R35 GT-R; in production for a total of 17 years (allowing for some oddities across various markets) the R35 received a number of facelifts throughout its lifetime, but the basic recipe remained the same, and it was always recognisable as an R35 GT-R. In other words, it was just right.

Facelifted for the first time in 2010, the R35 received new valve timings, altered mappings, larger intakes and a modified exhaust system which boosted stock power up to 523bhp. Not that this particularly matters in this instance, as this particular R35 has been tweaked and breathed upon by the legends of the GT-R tuning community that are Litchfield Motors.

Now, before you go imagining a young yobbo ‘sending’ this GT-R for Instagram clout and showing off at US-style takeover events, this particular R35 has a slightly different background. Tuned by Litchfield to their ‘Stage 2’ package which boosts power to 610bhp, other than a revised exhaust Y-pipe section (fitted by Litchfield) and the desirable Litchfield Road Handling Package, along with some upgraded brakes, this R35 retains its factory specification, and has had just 2 owners prior to our vendor.

Purchased by our seller as a standard R35 with a full Nissan dealership service history, in the years since it has been lightly upgraded, fettled and maintained by Litchfield throughout, meaning you - yes you, reading this listing - can bid safe in the knowledge that the best in the R35 business have been maintaining this example for years.

Interior

• Factory standard interior in excellent condition throughout
• Both front seats present fantastically, with no signs of any heavy wear or bolster scuffs
• In the rear, the 2+2 rear seats look to be virtually unused
• The high-traffic areas such as the shifter, door card pull handles, steering wheel and switchgear exhibit some light patination in keeping with the car’s age and mileage
• Looking closer, we also noted some scuffs to the lower dashboard leather covering in the passenger footwell, along with a few other blemishes to the cabin
• The seller notes that the green lightbulb for the suspension switch is inoperable, but the system still functions as intended and softens / firms the suspension as requested
• In the rear, the surprisingly usable luggage compartment is clean and tidy throughout
• Other than the note regarding the switch lightbulb above, there are no other reported faults or issues with the cabin

Exterior

• Blue paintwork in very good condition throughout
• The R35 GT-R still commands an impressive presence all these years after launch
• As far as we can see, the bodywork looks to be in impressive condition, with no obvious dents, damage or dings along the flanks of the car
• The seller notes that the underside of the front splitter is scuffed
• There is a dent in the centre of the front ‘chin’ spoiler / splitter
• The paintwork generally presents very well, though swirl marks are visible in direct light
• Elsewhere, the door edges are chipped, and the paintwork around the driver’s door handle in particular is chipped
• Up front, the usual smattering of stone chips are visible to the bumper, bonnet and exposed edges, as you’d expect to see on a high-performance car such as this
• All four wheels have been recently refurbished by Litchfield and are in near-immaculate condition
• The nearside front tyre has a large chunk out of the rubber, though this was not mentioned on the latest MoT inspection
• Being particular, we also noted a scratch on the nearside rear wing above the arch, and some small imperfections on the rear diffuser / lower bumper area
• Overall, a very smart and visually unmodified example of the legendary R35-era GT-R

Mechanical

• 3.8-litre VR38DETT twin-turbocharged V6 engine, which has been tuned by Litchfield Performance to ‘stage 2’ producing 610bhp
• Six-speed Borg Warner dual-clutch transmission, sending power to all four wheels
• The brakes and pads have been upgraded all round with Litchfield Alcon items
• The front brake discs and pads have been recently replaced
• Less than 1,000 miles have been covered since the latest service
• The car remains largely stock, save for the aforementioned remap, a Litchfield exhaust Y-pipe section, and Litchfield's' in-house ‘Road Handling’ package
• Under the bonnet, the VR38DETT engine looks to be in good order, with no visible issues
• The seller tells us that the car drives and stops well, with blistering performance but impressive handling and stopping capability thanks to the aforementioned Litchfield upgrades
• There are no reported mechanical faults or issues to be aware of

Summary

A true supercar-killer even in stock form, this Litchfield-tuned, facelift Nissan R35 GT-R is a well-kept, low ownership example of the legendary ‘Godzilla’ that has been kept visually standard and only tuned and upgraded by the best in the business for complete peace-of-mind.

Used and enjoyed but evidently cherished, this GT-R is a long way from the typical builds that are seen across social media these days, and with well-kept examples such as this becoming a rarer and rarer find in a sea of badly-modified, 1000hp+ cars, this is a fantastic opportunity that is not to be missed by anyone looking for an R35 that has just a little more poke without being ridiculous.
