Overview
The early 2000s were a funny time for car design; You had the likes of the Porsche 996, Ferrari 360, BMW E46 M3 and the like - all of which represented dramatic departures from the styling cues of their predecessors, with a mixed bag of reviews from designers and onlookers alike at the time of launch.
Interestingly, all three of the above (to pick just a few examples) have firmly rooted themselves in the ‘modern classics’ category, and they all look better and better with age. Specifically, we’re looking at the Ferrari 360 Modena today, which strayed far from the path of the angular 355 with its pop-up headlights and side strakes, instead opting for a smoothed-out, aerodynamic body style penned by Pininfarina.
Under the skin there were numerous exciting improvements too, with the 360 featuring an all-aluminium space-frame chassis, meaning a much lighter weight despite a ~10% increase in overall dimensions. Ferrari’s familiar flat-plane crank V8 engine sits amidships, and offers an intoxicating howl as you chase the redline in each gear, yet remains impressively docile in day-to-day driving.
We reckon the 360 is looking better-and-better with each year that passes, and isn’t it nice to see one that isn’t finished in Rosso Corsa? Thankfully, that’s exactly what we have here - a lovely 360 coupe in Argento Nurburgring over Blu Scuro, with a Challenge rear grille and the all-important gated manual gearbox; what more could you want?
Supplied new by Lancaster Ferrari of Colchester, this 360 has been in the care of our vendor since October 2021, when it was purchased from Forza 288. Having received a mixture of preventative, scheduled and remedial attention throughout its time with the current owner, this Italian Stallion is in rude health, with our seller also drawing attention to the fact that “it has never failed or had an advisory in its MOT history” - if that doesn’t make you want to bid, we don’t know what will!

Interior
-
Blu Scuro leather interior in excellent condition throughout, offset against painted silver trims and centre console
-
All of the ‘sticky switches’ - a common fault with Ferraris of this era - have been removed, stripped and painted
-
Both seats are in great shape, wearing a pleasing patination to the leather, along with some light scuffs to the outer bolsters
-
The seller tells us that the leather was treated ‘every six to eight months’ during his ownership, using quality leather care products
-
The gated manual transmission takes centre stage, with the polished shifter pleasingly free of any notable wear
-
Both door cards are in good shape, with some expected marks to the handles and lower edges
-
Elsewhere, there are some scuffs to the painted centre console, along with a small stain on the driver’s floor mat and some light abrasions to the aluminum door kick panels
-
Up front, the luggage compartment presents well, and houses the tool roll, car cover and document wallet
-
No reported electronic faults from the seller
Exterior
-
Argento Nurburgring bodywork in outstanding condition for its age
-
No reported accident damage, and no known history of any accidents
-
Challenge rear grille - an excellent upgrade for any 360
-
Light stone chips to the front end and exposed edges
-
Some larger chips noted to the underside of the front bumper, mirror caps and the rear diffuser
-
A larger chip is visible on the driver’s door, which appears to have been touched-in
-
Looking closer, the edge of the rear bumper appears to be bubbling at the join with the offside rear wing
-
All four wheels are wrapped in Michelin PS5s, and present well with a few small marks and areas of bubbling visible up-close
-
Overall, this is a handsome example of the millennial-era supercar
Mechanical
-
3.6-litre flat-plane crank V8 engine, producing 395bhp
-
Desirable six-speed manual transmission
-
Rear-wheel drive
-
The seller notes that the standard exhaust back box has been replaced with a Novalari item
-
This upgraded exhaust is said to sound “intoxicating” at high revs, but remains civilised at low RPMs and around town
-
The engine bay presents very well, with no sign of weeping from the cam covers or any other visually identifiable issues
-
We’re told that this 360 Modena “starts on the button” and that there are no known mechanical issues to be aware of
Summary
With its retro-cool styling, sonorous flat-plane V8 and the all-important manual transmission, this Ferrari 360 Modena is a must-have for any marque enthusiast or late-90s / early 00s-era collector. Finished in the timeless combination of Argento Nurburgring over Blu Scuro leather and boasting the desirable Challenge rear grille as well as a tasteful exhaust upgrade, this 360 Modena is begging to be driven on your favourite roads this summer, or pointed south towards the chic French Riviera.
