Overview
When the 991 was introduced at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, it retained the rear-engined layout of the original and was offered as both rear- and four-wheel-drive. It also brought with it an evolved engine range in the form of a 3.4-litre six-cylinder ‘boxer’ unit with direct fuel injection and 350bhp, while the larger 3.8-litre Carrera S put out 400bhp.
This example is a UK-spec 991 Carrera 2 Convertible, with the 3.4-litre unit under its engine cover and Porsche’s sought-after ‘PDK’ automatic transmission – a seven-speed auto with manual control and shift paddles, derived from parent company VW Group’s ‘DSG’ technology. It allows faster changes than the manual models and was the fastest ‘standard model’ 991.
Its stealthy black-on-black colour scheme is discreet yet subtly eye-catching, especially when paired with the stunning 20-inch, 10-spoke factory option alloys.
It has a comprehensive service history, has been with its current owner for the past five years and has been garaged throughout that time. With the roof down it’s a fantastic summer car, ready to be thoroughly enjoyed as the days get longer and spring gets into full flow.

Summary
If you want a supercar that is also extremely forgiving in everyday use, then a 911 is the default choice – and for a good reason. With the two-pedal PDK transmission, even more so.
It can be as refined and docile as you need it to be when crawling around the M25 or up the M6 at rush hour, or picking your way through city streets on your way to the office, yet it still comes into its own on the open road. It’s the definition of an all-purpose sports car but is never anything other than fun to drive – a stunning open-top Porsche, ready to make the most of the upcoming summer months.
