Overview

Back in the mists of time — in the year 2000, to be precise — if you wanted to watch a film at home you’d probably have popped along to your local high-street video rental shop and handed over some actual cash for the pleasure of loading a chunky VHS tape into your VCR, which was probably about as deep as it was wide. All such alien concepts to us today.

Luckily you can continue this tradition if you’re the highest bidder on this Range Rover. Its Holland & Holland trim includes not only burr walnut trim, but also a VHS video player with screens for the rear passengers. So if you want to relive the first screenings of Gladiator, Snatch, or the original X Men, — all of which were released in 2000 — all you need to do is pop down to your local car-boot sale and spend a while rummaging through boxes of old tapes. Ignore the DVDs. They’re too modern for us.

But don’t worry, this P38 isn’t completely stuck in the world of tape players. It has received a professionally fitted Pioneer head unit in the dashboard with all the modern niceties you might require. This is wired into the original harman/kardon sound system, so you can enjoy your choice of music freshly piped in via Bluetooth as you settle into the comfortable leather seats.

Accompanying the car is an enormous stack of servicing invoices. It has been owned by the vendor since 2002, and has largely been serviced by one garage, so you know it has been well cared for. And it quite often received two services a year.

So don’t think that this is your standard high-mileage Range Rover. It has been cherished by one owner for over twenty years, with some subtle improvements to make it a bit more modern. It even received a rebuilt engine with a few choice tuning upgrades, so do take these into consideration when thinking about its performance figures.
