V8? Tick. Estate? Tick. German build quality? Tick. Ah, it must be an Audi RS Avant! 

There’s a very good reason that Audi’s RS4 and RS6 Avant are widely regarded as the benchmark for performance estates, and the B8-era RS4 is no exception. Blending a sonorous V8 engine with enough room to lump the family/dogs/a wardrobe/weekly tip run into the back of it and still look fantastic whilst doing so, there’s plenty to like with the RS4 of this era.

This particular example is finished in Suzuka Grey, which looks very good to our eyes. Said to be in excellent mechanical health, driving “perfectly” and without any reported faults, this RS4 Avant would make a fine addition to any driveway, whether it’s for a family hauler or simply a fun everyday driver for those who value practicality on-tap when they need it.

• The door jambs and sill covers are lightly scratched in a few places

• Rubber over-mats have been fitted to the front footwells and the boot to preserve the carpets underneath

• A battery tracker is fitted underneath the boot floor

Exterior

• Suzuka Grey paintwork with black Audi ‘Rotor’ wheels

• Bodywork in great condition with no reported accident damage, and no visible sign of impact

• Light stone chips to the front end and mirror caps

• The windscreen is delaminating in the lower nearside corner but will be replaced before the auction concludes

• The front bumper is cracked below the nearside fog light

• Kerb rash on the nearside front wheel

• The rear diffuser has a large chip slightly off-centre to the right

• Overall, this is a well-kept example of the performance family wagon

Mechanical

• 4,163cc petrol V8 engine, putting out 450bhp @ 8,250rpm and 317 lb ft of torque at 4,000rpm

• The engine bay presents well, with no signs of any leaks or issues, though it would benefit from the attentions of a detailer to bring it back to its best

• We did note that the rear offside brake disk appears to be worn / have a lip

• The car starts easily and shows no sign of smoking when revved

• We’re told that the car has “no mechanical issues” and that it “starts and drives perfectly” by the seller

Summary

A truly ‘do it all’ car, the Audi RS4 Avant is just as at home storming across the continent at great pace as it is on a twisty B-road or doing a rubbish run to the local recycling centre, all whilst making wonderful V8 noises; what’s not to like?
