Overview
2025 marks the 75th anniversary of one of the most famous vans of all time, and arguably the most iconic.
That van is the Volkswagen Transporter, the seventh generation of which has just gone on sale. It marks the end of an era, too, as it’s the first Transporter to not be an entirely Volkswagen product, as it’s based on the Ford Transit Custom. A move that makes sense within the global machinations of the car industry, but which hasn’t gone down that well with VW enthusiasts – so much so, in fact, that they’ve been clamouring in their droves to buy the last of the T6.1 Transporters, along with bespoke converters for whom Transporters have long been their lifeblood.
After all, the original VW-Westfalia Motor Caravan was the foremost of the breed, and more than 70 years later, the German brand is still at the forefront of the camper van world, with a raft of aftermarket converters thriving on the back of a reputation that has been well-earned.
A Volkswagen Camper of any era is a sought-after thing. A late T6.1 with barely any miles on the clock, therefore, is hot property – and here’s your chance to own one.
It’s a T6.1 T28 Highline, which is the plush model, powered by a 2.0-litre TDI engine and equipped with a seven-speed DSG two-pedal sequential transmission, which is closely related to the Porsche PDK gearbox, should you need bragging rights down the pub.
The Highline spec includes useful things for camper van owners, such as LED headlights, a reversing camera and parking sensors front and back, as well as a premium infotainment system that pairs with your smartphone. It’s a fabulous van to drive, making it a much more usable home-from-home than a cute and cuddly but often crusty and cumbersome T2.
This one’s a CamperKing conversion, supplied new to the owner by the Banbury-based camper specialist in August 2023. It’s the MonteCarlo Deluxe model, which comes with five seats and four beds, along with a vast array of equipment that we’ll come to in a moment. It cost the vendor the lion’s share of seventy grand, with over £2,500 of extras added. It still has warranty until August and has covered just 2,800 miles from new, so is supplied in almost as-new condition.

Summary
This is quite a remarkable van– a great colour, a high-level specification and a genuine low-mileage T6.1 in pretty much spotless order and supplied by a well-known and highly respected converter.
You’ll need to move quickly on this one, as modern camper vans of this calibre don’t come to the market very often – and when they do they command strong money. This one is bound to, as it’s almost as-new! Some epic adventures lie ahead, should you be lucky enough to cast the winning bid.
