Overview

When the previous generation E60 M5 appeared, the Chris Bangle design was somewhat, shall we say, controversial. Its replacement, the F10, was rather more conventional yet somehow managed to look both more aggressive and more restrained.

Despite being a bigger car, the BMW boffins’ work on the suspension, combined with a limited slip diff and clever traction control meant it remained competitive in the handling department. Switching back to a V8 and for the first time adding a brace of turbos provided considerably more power and torque than before, while the transmission provided another M5 with a dual clutch ‘box.

It all added up to a full-on super saloon, with a cabin that is extremely well appointed and comfortable for up to 5 people, and a very refined place to be. But it packs a supercar rivalling 0-60 of 4.3 seconds and a level of agility that something weighing close to two tons really shouldn’t.

The current owner has had this example since early 2020 and has used it as something of a weekend toy, so not racking up big miles. Despite the limited mileage, it’s been treated to the care and maintenance so vital to the upkeep of cars like this. It has been serviced by main dealers and then marque specialists, and the oil changed annually regardless of mileage. The vented brake disks were changed across 2020 and 2021, the rod bearings replaced in 2022 and the dual clutch transmission serviced ahead of schedule at the same time.

In short, it’s exactly what you’d look for in a car like this and should provide its next owner with many more years of high performance fun for all the family.
