Overview
You might have heard of the Land Rover Defender. It sold quite well for quite a while. It went to quite a few places. And it’s still quite popular today, even though it went out of production in 2016.
But what you may not have heard of is the Zulu2 model produced by JE Motor Works. This takes an original Defender and adds a supercharged JLR 4.7-litre V8 engine, along with suspension and brake upgrades, and a four-branch exhaust system. And on top of these engineering improvements, the car is treated to a beautifully crafted leather interior with quilted leather and a chunky Alpine sound system. The panoramic rear windows complete the vehicle’s transformation into a sleek-looking modern vehicle.
This particular car has had one owner since 2009, and has clearly been well cared for. It was reportedly the owner’s spare second vehicle so never saw a great deal of use. Then in 2019 they decided to send it to the JE workshop to have the Zulu2 upgrades applied.
The car was stripped down and rebuilt to this superb higher specification, with plenty of additional sound proofing making it a more comfortable car to drive — along with suspension improvements including lowering and stiffening. At this time the owner also decided to have a manual transmission fitted in place of the original auto ‘box, for a more enjoyable driving experience.
As can be seen in the photos, the Stornoway Grey paint is very good and the interior remains excellent. And the chassis has been professionally treated for protection from the elements.
If you’re looking for a Defender which stands out from the crowd, then this Zulu2 example ensures you’ll be tearing away faster than most Land Rovers could ever dream of.
